Disbelief. That is the state that I am in. I am still trying to fully grasp and accept the fact that my team and I accomplished our goal of being repeat National Champions! It’s been a few weeks and I still can’t wrap my head around it.

The NCAA tournament is different from any other tennis event that I have ever participated in. Tennis, usually being an individual sport, can sometimes get lonely or boring during all of the down time at these types of tournaments.  However, this is not the case when you get to be around all of the girls that I am lucky to call my teammates. We come up with some pretty interesting ways to pass the time. I usually do a crossword (probably found in the hotel newspaper) on match days. It is kind of my ritual… or maybe it’s a superstition. But this is just my personal little pastime… kind of boring (and nerdy), I know.

The big thing for us, besides walking to get frozen yogurt every night in downtown Athens, was to do The Ellen Dance Dare. I don’t know how many of you watch the Ellen DeGeneres Show, but she is hilarious! So, the Dance Dare. Basically she challenged her audience to dance behind random, unsuspecting people while capturing it on video. It sounds simple, but it is actually really difficult. The hard part was trying to get it all on video without the person seeing! The entire week we were on the prowl for unsuspecting victims. We also came up with a few schemes to dance up on some of our Men’s players and staff members without them noticing. When we danced behind Andrew, a player for the men, we first came up with this elaborate plan to ask him to take a picture of a small group of us. So, while he was occupied with that, the rest of us executed our awesome dance dare moves. Like I said, it wasn’t easy. We also managed to get our coaches, athletic trainer and manager. I also think we may have got a referee (which, when I think about now, could have been a very bad idea).  Hopefully, we can put all of these video snippets together into a compilation and send it to Ellen. It would be absolutely incredible if she played it on her show! Keeping our fingers crossed J …hopefully our repeat will up our chances a bit.
