Hey there Gator fans! Bridget Sloan here with this week’s “Fresh Faces.” Being a sophomore on the UF Gymnastics Team, I remember what it was like stepping foot into the locker room, thinking “Is this real life?!” This week, I got the inside scoop from freshman Claire Boyce on her transition to college, how she is liking it so far, and just some fun facts about Claire.

BS: Claire, when is your birthday?

CB:  April 25.

BS: And…where are you from?

CB: Dallas, Texas.

BS: Do you have any siblings?

CB: Two. One younger and one older: Brian and Luke.

BS: What are some of your favorite hobbies?

CB: I can play piano and guitar. I also love being active and outdoors.

BS: What was going through your mind when you walked into the gym for the first day of practice?

CB: Oh my gosh, Is this real life….Let’s try not to mess up today—It ended being a great practice though! J

BS: What is it about gymnastics that makes you love the sport?

CB: The feeling of flying through the air while flipping and twisting is never old to me, and I absolutely love it.

BS: What made you want to be a Gator?

CB: The Gator Nation is like a big family. That kind of atmosphere is something I really wanted to be a part of.

BS: I know teams have nicknames for their teammates, what are some nicknames you have?

CB: Well, my teammates have given me quite a few. I go by Claire-Bear, Wags, Honey-Bear, and Éclair…I personally prefer Honey-Bear, but answer to all of them.

BS: What has been the biggest adjustment as a student-athlete so far?

CB: I haven’t struggled too much, but the one thing I have found hard I would say is organizing and remembering everything I have to do.

BS: Now for some fun. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

CB: Chocolate chip cookie dough.

BS: If you could be any celebrity who would it be?

CB: Jennifer Lawrence.

BS: Where is your favorite place to travel?

CB: I love to vacation at the beach, but my dream vacation is to go to Australia or New Zealand.

BS: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

CB: Hopefully married with at least 1 kid, working in a career I am passionate about.
